Ernie and his wife Silvia are active members of the local community and have donated time, money and art to the following organizations;
Inner City Arts: offering at-risk children the opportunity to experience the power of creativity.
Silvia serves on the Board of Directors and Ernie has donated original art for auction at the ICA annual fundraising benefit.
Foundation Fighting Blindness: funds research at over 50 institutions in the US and the world in the area of degenerative retinal diseases. Ernie has donated an original commission for public auction at their annual fundraising benefit.
Operation School Bell: providing new clothing, shoes and personal grooming products to children from families with extreme need. Silvia has been a member for over 10 years and has served as President for two terms. Ernie has donated original art for public auction at the OSB annual fundraising benefit.
Windsor Square – Hancock Park Historical Society: preserving the history of the greater Rancho La Brea area through events, publications and community outreach. Ernie serves as 2nd Vice President for special events and has donated art services.
Ernie is also a member of many arts clubs and organizations including;
California Art Club: promoting academic traditions and craftsmanship in the fields of representational painting, drawing and sculpture through art exhibits and educational opportunities in the fine arts. Ernie serves on the Advisory Board and Membership Committee, and as chair of the Associate Artist Committee he produces exhibitions of art by members.

LA County Museum of Art (LACMA): the largest art museum in the United States shares its vast collection through exhibitions, public programs and research facilities that attract nearly a million visitors annually. Ernie is a member of the American Art Council.
